Our NMK Story

In 2000 (almost twenty-five years ago) No More Knots (NMK) Founder, and former elite athlete Kelly Townsend had a vision of a specialist remedial massage business focused on fixing people’s knots so they could perform at their best every day.

She started out with four small rooms operating out of her house in Brisbane, a team of three enthusiastic therapists, and a focus on delivering quality remedial massage services.

Demand quickly grew, and NMK moved into its first dedicated remedial massage clinic in Greenslopes in 2008. As the business expanded and Kelly decided to devote time and energy into starting a family, Kelly’s childhood friend and experienced people manager Kristy Donoghue came on board as business partner & General Manager.

Wih Kristy at the operational helm, NMK continued to grow, and two new clinic locations were born -  Taringa clinic in 2011 and the Newmarket clinic in 2017.

2022 Brought Much Change to NMK!!

In April 2022, Kelly made the difficult decision to say goodbye to NMK, selling it to Natural-Therapy related company, Rayont Inc. With new ownership came a new leader for the business, Mr Ali Kasa, and in July 2022, the acquisition of a clinic in Ipswich. This brought our NMK Family to a total of 4 locations across South-East QLD.

After 15years in the GM role, Kristy also made the tough decision to move on in late 2022, passing the reigns to current GM, Thea Dillon. Thea brings 20 years of experience as a therapist, manager, leader, trainer and business operator in the Remedial Massage Industry. This has included working with NMK in 2020 as Taringa PM, and the delivery of much inhouse training content across our clinics since 2020.

Today, with our 3 locations, NMK has grown to become Australia’s largest dedicated remedial massage and myotherapy provider.

Across our Family, more than 60 team members look after more than 750 clients weekly, ranging from professional business people to tradies, mums and dads, weekend warriors and elite athletes.

NMK Shared Vision

Created by NMK Therapist and Support Team

At No More Knots we each try to be the person we would like to meet when we arrive at work. We build strong long-term relationships with our clients and with our colleagues. Our clients are valued and welcomed. They receive treatments tailored to their needs, goals, comfort and desired outcomes. We educate our clients in ways that help them long term. They are included in the progress and outcomes of their treatment plan. We provide an environment where each client is safe, relaxed, comfortable and prioritised.

Our positive culture promotes a healthy work/life balance, and we help each other in whatever way that we can. There is transparency and open dialogue between all of us. This helps us to be more effective and positive in undertaking our individual roles and responsibilities. We respect each other’s decisions and life choices. Together we are committed to achieving excellence and consistency in client treatments. We share effective interpersonal skills and have a strong sense of empathy for our clients. They know that we go the extra mile for them.

Staff at No More Knots are knowledgeable, confident, personable and honest. There is value in every treatment. We are committed to ongoing learning and we keep up-to-date. Each of us welcomes regular feedback through check-ins with therapists, receptionists and management to review how we feel we are going. Similarly we keep our clients updated on their goals and progress through regular reviews. We understand their goals and help them redefine into the longer term.

We donate and volunteer our time and skills to worthy causes. We take our services out to members of the community who would not ordinarily access what we do here at the Clinic. Our business supports volunteering by staff in their areas of interest.

The No More Knots environment is about learning, growing, educating and empowering everyone. Each day reminds us why we love what we are doing.
