WHO ARE WE?!
Twenty years ago No More Knots (NMK) Founder, former Athlete and Australian Institute of Sport attendee Kelly Townsend had a vision of a specialist remedial massage business focused on fixing people’s knots so they could perform at their best every day.
As an athlete who’s trained at the Australian Institute of Sport she knows how important it is to keep your body in peak physical condition.
She started out with four small rooms operating out of her house in Brisbane, a team of three enthusiastic therapists and a focus on high quality and consistent remedial massage.
Demand quickly outstripped the ability of Kelly’s small team to deliver and from this, NMK moved into its first dedicated remedial massage clinic in Greenslopes
As the business and demand for specialist remedial massage grew, Kelly’s childhood friend Kristy Donoghue came on board as Kelly’s business partner, allowing Kelly to step sideways and take some time to start her own family.
With around 12 years management experience at Contiki, Trafalgar and Nestle, Kristy was well suited to lead the continued growth of NMK, helping open the Taringa clinic in 2011 and the Newmarket clinic in early 2017.
Having worked in customer service for so many years, Kristy knew NMK’s success was based on its focus on quality for both customers and staff. All NMK employees have ongoing training and the opportunity for progression, ensuring NMK offers its customers some of the most highly trained and knowledgeable masseurs in the industry. NMK’s great work culture means we also have a relatively low staff turnover, in what is traditionally a transient industry, ensuring customer’s can continue to book with their preferred masseur.
Today, NMK has grown to become Australia’s largest dedicated remedial massage and myotherapy provider and is operated out of three professional dedicated clinics in Greenslopes, Taringa and Newmarket offering Physiotherapy and Myotherapy alongside Remedial Massage.
Its more than 60 staff look after more than 800 clients weekly, ranging from professional business people to tradesmen, mums and dads, weekend warriors and elite athletes.
DOING OUR BIT
At No More Knots, we are passionate about "DOING OUT BIT"
We believe that if every person makes small changes for the greater good, it can put a big dent in important environmental and humanitarian issues. Listed below are some of the small things the team here at NMK are committed to doing, to ensure we are doing our bit to help our planet and its population.
CHEMICAL FREE CLEANING
Norwex is a company who are committed to radically reducing chemicals in our homes and workplaces to promote the health of your family friends and of the environment. We have incorporated these new products into our routine and are so comfortable knowing that by reducing the use of cleaning chemicals in our workplace we are creating a healthier environment for staff and clients alike and have reduced our environmental impact tenfold.
Norwex provides an excellent solution to cleaning chemical-free and still does an amazing cleaning job!
THANK YOU PRODUCTS
Thank You are dedicated to providing the community with amazing products and hygiene education, all whilst funding and initiating clean water projects in developing nations. If you haven’t tried these hand wash and sanitising products, please do so when you’re in the clinic – they smell phenomenal!
WORLD VISION CHILDREN
Our staff members donate $2 of their income every fortnight, towards sponsoring two children, Kingstone and Ronaldon through World Vision.
WHO GIVES A CRAP
Who Gives A Crap toilet paper is made from environmentally friendly materials and 50% of their profits are donated to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world! What began as a crowd funding campaign has transformed into a company with a vision we love, and are so proud to be supporting.
EMMA & TOMS
To fall in line with achieving health, we have chosen to support an awesome organisation Emma & Tom’s and their Life Bars. Emma & Tom’s do an amazing product in their life bars and we believe it’s the perfect healthy, post-massage snack instead of the sugary treats!

At No More Knots we each try to be the person we would like to meet when we arrive at work. We build strong long-term relationships with our clients and with our colleagues. Our clients are valued and welcomed. They receive treatments tailored to their needs, goals, comfort and desired outcomes. We educate our clients in ways that help them long term. They are included in the progress and outcomes of their treatment plan. We provide an environment where each client is safe, relaxed, comfortable and prioritised.
Our positive culture promotes a healthy work/life balance, and we help each other in whatever way that we can. There is transparency and open dialogue between all of us. This helps us to be more effective and positive in undertaking our individual roles and responsibilities. We respect each other’s decisions and life choices. Together we are committed to achieving excellence and consistency in client treatments. We share effective interpersonal skills and have a strong sense of empathy for our clients. They know that we go the extra mile for them.
Staff at No More Knots are knowledgeable, confident, personable and honest. There is value in every treatment. We are committed to ongoing learning and we keep up-to-date. Each of us welcomes regular feedback through check-ins with therapists, receptionists and management to review how we feel we are going. Similarly we keep our clients updated on their goals and progress through regular reviews. We understand their goals and help them redefine into the longer term.
We donate and volunteer our time and skills to worthy causes. We take our services out to members of the community who would not ordinarily access what we do here at the Clinic. Our business supports volunteering by staff in their areas of interest.
The No More Knots environment is about learning, growing, educating and empowering everyone. Each day reminds us why we love what we are doing.
